Draft for review. Tti Labs hasn't approved this text yet, and the parts in brackets are still to be confirmed.

Terms of use

The rules for using Greening OS: what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and what the figures the app produces are, and aren't.

Version 1.0 · in force from [date, to be confirmed]

1.Who we are and what these terms cover

Greening OS is operated by Tti Labs ([Tti Labs' registered name, to be confirmed], [registered address, to be confirmed]). These terms apply to everyone who signs in to it, uses its API or MCP server, or opens a link it sends.

Most people use Greening OS on behalf of an organisation that has an agreement with Tti Labs. Where that agreement says something different from these terms, the agreement wins.

2.Your account

  • Accounts are by invitation, or by sign-up where Tti Labs has opened it. Use your own account, keep its password and two-step sign-in to yourself, and tell your organisation's owner and us at once if you think someone else has used it.
  • An organisation's owners decide who can see and change its data, and for how long. They are responsible for removing people who should no longer have access.
  • API keys act with the access of the person who made them. Keep them secret, and revoke a key you no longer need.

3.Your organisation's data

  • The figures, files and answers an organisation records in Greening OS belong to that organisation.
  • The organisation lets Tti Labs hold and process that data only to run the service for it: to calculate, store, show, report, export and back it up, and to keep it secure. We don't sell it, use it for advertising, or show it to other organisations.
  • Owners can export the organisation's data at any time, and can close the organisation (clause 8).
  • Record only what the work needs. Greening OS is built for an organisation's activity data, not for personal data about employees or anyone else.

4.What the figures are, and aren't

  • Greening OS calculates greenhouse gas emissions following the GHG Protocol, with emission factors from the publishers named beside each figure (such as the US EPA, IPCC and the UK's DESNZ). Every figure shows how it was calculated.
  • A figure is only as good as the activity data entered and the factors chosen. Your organisation is responsible for both, and for checking the results before it relies on them.
  • Factors an organisation adds, or takes from its own workbook, are marked provisional until someone other than their author validates them.
  • Greening OS is a tool, not a certification. Its reports have no official or legal status of their own. A verified statement comes from an independent verifier, and anything filed with a regulator, customer or lender is filed by your organisation, under its own responsibility.
  • We take care that the calculations are right, and we test them against hand-worked cases and published examples. But the figures are provided as they are, without a guarantee that they are free of error or fit for a particular purpose.

5.Using Greening OS fairly

Don't use Greening OS to break the law or anyone's rights. In particular, don't:

  • try to reach an organisation's data you haven't been given access to, or test the service's security without our written agreement;
  • upload malware, or files you have no right to share;
  • overload the service, or go around its limits (through the API, 300 requests a minute for each person across all their keys, and fewer for changes);
  • copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service.

6.Features that use AI

  • “Read the bill” suggests values from a bill's image. A person checks each value before it is saved.
  • The copilot answers questions about the figures you can see. It is off until an owner turns it on.
  • Both can be wrong. Treat what they say as a suggestion, and check it against the figures and their sources.
  • Both send what they need to Anthropic, our AI provider. The privacy notice says what.

7.Availability and changes

  • We aim to keep Greening OS available at all times, but it may pause for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
  • We improve the service continually and may change or retire features. When a change affects how figures are calculated, values already approved stay as they were calculated until someone chooses to recalculate them.
  • When we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell owners by email or in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect.

8.Closing an organisation, and suspension

  • An owner can close an organisation at any time. It then stays readable and exportable, but unchangeable, for 30 days (7 if a second owner agrees), and an owner can cancel the closure during that time. After that its data and files are deleted for good.
  • We may suspend access that breaks these terms or the organisation's agreement, or puts the service or other organisations at risk. We tell the organisation's owners why, unless the law or an urgent risk stops us.

9.Fees

Fees, if any, are set out in the organisation's agreement with Tti Labs. These terms don't add any.

10.Liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited.
  • Otherwise, Tti Labs isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profit, lost business or penalties, arising from the use of Greening OS or of its figures.
  • Tti Labs' total liability to an organisation is limited to what its agreement says or, where it says nothing, to the fees the organisation paid in the 12 months before the claim.

11.Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. Disputes are heard by the courts of [city, to be confirmed], unless the organisation's agreement names another forum.

12.Contact

Questions about these terms: [contact email, to be confirmed].
